Located in the heart of downtown Hendersonville, Falderal Winery is just off Main Street on 3rd Avenue West. Established in 2009, we are a full-service, bonded winery that makes all our wine on premises, as well as sells wine and beer making products to those so inclined to make it for themselves.
Named after a King’s Quest computer game, the definition of falderal means “a showy but worthless trifle” and “foolish”. Which is exactly what we were going for! We aim to take the pretentiousness out of wine and wine making, to give everyone the chance to experience a range of wine that is affordable, and to educate the public on how great wine can be made in as little as a bucket and carboy on your kitchen counter. We source our grapes and fruits from top viniferous regions around the globe, as well as from local farms and backyards right here in Henderson county.
Our wine maker, Paul, learned how to make wine the glamorous way: he started out in a stockroom and worked his way up to head wine maker at Thistle Meadow Winery in Laurel Springs, NC. After working there for 6 years, he and his wife Julia, decided to make the big move to being small business owners and opened their own winery in the cold of November 2009. We offer daily tastings, monthly wine making classes and operate as a reference for all your wine making questions.
